A lifelong weather geek, Dennis Mersereau was born during a brutal heat wave in New Jersey and experienced every type of weather imaginable while growing up in Woodbridge, Virginia. He attended the University of South Alabama in endlessly-humid Mobile, where he experienced the heaviest rain he'd ever seen and more tornado warnings than he'd like to remember. Dennis graduated in May 2014 with a degree in political science and a minor in meteorology.

Dennis currently contributes articles about the weather for Mental Floss and Forbes. Previous, he ran a weather blog called "The Vane" for Gawker Media, and he's contributed articles to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang and Popular Science. Dennis also teamed up with the editors of Outdoor Life magazine to write a book, The Extreme Weather Survival Manual, which came out in October 2015.
